The Morning Call
In today’s segment we focus on Kenya’s newly inaugurated Standard Gauge Railway and the impact it has had on tourism.
The Railway know known as Madaraka express began its maiden trip on May 31st from the country’s Coastal city Mombasa till the capital Nairobi.
The railway which will eventually go through Uganda and Rwanda has caused a buzz. The new Chinese-built route is aimed at cementing Kenya’s position as the gateway to East Africa and is billed as the biggest infrastructure project since independence.
The line linking the capital to the country’s tourism hub avails a more affordable transport option to both local and international tourists yearning for leisure and safari.
Take a look at some of the sights and sounds of the Madaraka Express trains with acoustics from Kenyan musician Eric Wainaina.
